MLS standings determine which teams qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs each season. The league splits its 30 clubs into Eastern and Western conferences, with each team playing a 34-game regular season schedule. Points are awarded three for a win, one for a draw, and none for a loss — the same system used across most professional soccer leagues worldwide. Conference rank determines playoff seeding, home-field advantage, and ultimately which clubs compete for the MLS Cup.
